November FE library update
Posted by andrewey on December 3, 2008
No further news on when the English FE LRS toolkit will be published in hardcopy but the updated electronic version is available on the CoFHE website.
I believe the Welsh LRS toolkit should be published in the very near future and should appear on the fforwm (Welsh association of colleges) website.
Both toolkits will be promoted at the 2009 CoFHE Conference in Edinburgh
CILIP has published a supplement as part of JISC’s ‘Libraries of the Future’ campaign. The supplement includes some examples of JISC’s role in supporting FE learning resources and coverage of web 2.0 in HE/FE.

Andrew,
As a COFHE Southern cttee. member, I heard from Sarah Reed, national COFHE Sec., that COFHE plan publishing hard copies of the toolkit; COFHE Southern mtg. wondered, if it was to be subject to updates, maybe a looseleaf file format would be a good idea.

The idea of a loose leaf toolkit was discussed but unfortunately the consensus was that this would be too costly. The model in Scotland and Wales, which I think CoFHE will follow in England, is to produce a hardcopy toolkit which is then completely updated every 5 years or so.
It will of course be possible to provide guidance notes, clarifications etc via supplementary information on the CoFHE website.
